Atlanta Braves Hall of Famer Tom Glavine wore this white Braves’ home jersey in 1987, his rookie season. Glavine endured some growing pains in his first season before settling in to earn double-digit wins every season from 1989 to 2002. A 10-time All-Star, Glavine won two National League Cy Young awards and four Silver Sluggers for his prowess at the dish. On August 5th, 2007, the 1995 World Series MVP won the 300th game of his career, leading the New York Mets to an 8-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Glavine, a former draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings, finished his career with 305 wins and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014.

This offered button-down Braves’ home jersey is white, with the “Braves” wordmark and a tomahawk paraph sewn on the chest in red and navy tackle twill with gold stitching on the tomahawk. “GLAVINE” is sewn across the back shoulders in navy tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. Glavine’s number “47”, retired by the Braves in 2010, is sewn on the back of the jersey in red and navy tackle twill. A Wilson tag sporting an attached size “42 CARE ON REVERSE” flag and a “87” year tag are sewn on the front left tail. This rookie season jersey has also been signed by Glavine in black marker on the center right chest. Glavine inscribed “91 N.L. Cy 98” and “95 W.S. MVP”. Also stamped on the inside of the jersey is “PURCHASED FROM ATLANTA BRAVES”. This jersey displays moderate wash wear, with some yellowing and notable sweat staining of the linen lining inside. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used baseball jersey expert William Henderson (21-0616J02) for the game use and a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.

Also included in this lot is an official scorecard from the Pittsburgh Pirates dated to August 22nd, 1987. In that game, Glavine got his first Major League victory when he held the Pirates to 3 runs over 7 1/3 innings in the Braves’ 10-3 win. This card measures 5 ¼ x 7 inches and is light blue. The top of this card has “ON ROAD-OFFICIAL BATTING ORDER”, “CLUB PITTSBURGH” and “DATE” printed in black with “8-22-87” handwritten in blue pin on the date line. On the “ORIGINAL” column, the Pirates batting order is handwritten with “Bonds-7 Pedrique-6 Van Slyke-8 Harper-9 Coles-5 Ray-4 Bream-3 Ortiz-2 Walk-1” handwritten in blue pen. This card has been signed by Hall of Fame manager Jim Leyland in blue pen on the “MANAGER’S SIGNATURE” line. This card is in good condition, with a crease fold along the center and a small piece missing from the top. Please note that this item was recently authenticated by Beckett Authentication. An LOA will be pictured in this lot when it is received in our office and will be shipped to the winner.
