Hall of Famer and Boston Celtics icon Larry Bird was coming off his statistically best scoring season of 1987-88 – including his famous duel with Atlantic Hawks star Dominque Wilkins in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. After not reaching the NBA Finals for the first time in five seasons, Bird was starting to break down physically and was limited to only the first six games of the 1988-89 season do to him having surgery to remove bone spurs in both of his feet. Game used items form Bird are hard to come by and this offered Boston Celtics home white warmup jacket is one of those treasures to behold, especially given the limited amount of games he played during the 1988-89 season.

This white size 46 Sand-Knit short sleeved jacket with a snap-button-down front has “CELTICS” arched across the front in green and yellow applique´. The NBA logo is embroidered on the upper right chest and the collar and sleeve ends are bordered with a white ribbed material that has two green stripes. Each sleeve has a single green clover with yellow borders that has been placed with applique´. The back of this jacket has a green tackle twill rectangle patch sewn on with “BIRD” sewn on in white tackle twill. The inside collar has the “Sand-Knit 46 MacGregor SPORTING GOODS”, “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for BOSTON CELTICS” tags in the middle with an “88” patch on the left and a “2”LB” patch on the right. Bird has signed his name in gold marker on the green tackle twill name patch on the back. This jacket displays moderate use with some slight toning due to age and comes with a LOA from MEARS (317601) for the use and a COA from Beckett Authentication (U40952) for Bird’s signature.
