In 1988-89, 25-year-old Michael Jordan continued his complete dominance over the NBA, but despite all his heroics, the Bulls had yet to reach the Finals. During the regular season, Jordan averaged 32.5 points per game to lead the league in scoring for the third consecutive time and set personal career highs in rebounds (8) and assists (8) per game. He was the driving force behind the Bulls making the post season, and his last second game and series-winning basket in against Cleveland in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round has simply gone down in NBA history as “The Shot.”

Jordan wore this jersey during the regular season as he led the Bulls to a dramatic post season. This home white mesh jersey has “BULLS” and Jordan’s number “23” on the front in black and red applique. MacGregor Sand-Knit size 44 and “Designed and Tailored Exclusively for CHICAGO BULLS” labels are sewn in the lower left front tail along with two white strip tags with “88” and “2”LB” stitched in black thread. The neck and arm openings are trimmed in red, white and black ribbing and there is a cleaning instruction tag sewn inside the body. The back features “JORDAN” and his number “23” in black and red applique. The jersey has been signed by Jordon on the upper left chest in black marker and inscribed “To Steve Best Wishes”.

The jersey displays moderate wear with some abrasion scuffs and light toning from age throughout. A perfect game used Jordan jersey complete with a letter of provenance from the Chicago Bulls dated June 15, 2017 stating that “Mr. Steve Lapper was a season ticket holder with the Chicago Bulls from 1984 through 1994. Mr. Lapper’s season ticket location was courtside seats next to the Chicago Bulls bench” which indicates that his jersey was likely signed and likely acquired by Steve Lapper from Jordan or the Bulls. This jersey also comes with an LOA from MEARS (315781) for the game use and has been given the highest possible grade of A10. This jersey also comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication (A81814) for Jordan’s signature and inscription.
