Cal Ripken Jr. wore this Baltimore Orioles hat in the 1988 MLB All-Star Game, held at Riverfront Stadium in front of more than 55,000 fans. Ripken started the game at shortstop, and reached base once via walk in the American League’s 2-1 win over the Senior Circuit. The 1988 Midsummer Classic was Ripken’s sixth of 19 All-Star appearances, and the Orioles lifer finished the 1988 campaign with a .264/23/81 triple crown slash line. Ripken was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

This cap is black and white, with an orange bill and an Orioles logo sewn on the front. Handwritten in blue marker on the underside of the brim is “All Star Game 1988 Cincinnati.” Tags sewn on the sweatband include a New Era tag, a Diamond Collection tag, and a size “7 ?” tag. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal accompanying this game used hat.
