Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, who is still the only player in history to win the MVP in both the American and National Leagues, took over the managerial job for the Baltimore Orioles in 1988. Robinson took over from Cal Ripken, Sr. after an 0-6 start. Although the club struggled most of the year, under Robinson’s guidance, the O’s would bounce back a year later and earn Robinson the Manager of the Year Award.
Robinson wore this home white Orioles jersey during the 1988 season. This Rawlings size 44 button-down jersey has “Orioles” and Robinson’s number “20” sewn on the front in orange and black tackle twill. The Rawlings tag and “3 INCH EXTRA LENGTH” tag, along with the “SET 1 1988” flag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. The collar is lined in black and orange and the sleeve ends have an expandable material with black, white and orange stripes. “ROBINSON” is sewn on in orange and black tackle twill on a matching white nameplate, which is above his number “20” that is also sewn on in orange and black tackle twill. The left sleeve has “EBW” sewn on in black tackle twill in large block letters in honor of owner Edward Bennett Williams, who passed away in August. This jersey displays light to moderate game use and comes with a LOA from 100% Authentic. It has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
