Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was awarded this watch to commemorate the Los Angeles Lakers back-to-back NBA titles in 1986-87 and 1987-88. Abdul-Jabbar was the perfect veteran component for the “Showtime” Lakers, providing a steady outlet for star point guard Magic Johnson’s laser-guided passes and contributing solid, veteran defense for a team that touted offense as its greatest strength. In 1986-87 the Lakers defeated their hated rivals from Boston in a six-game series, with Abdul-Jabbar averaging 21.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. The following season, the Lakers saw themselves matched up with the “Bad Boy” Detroit Pistons. This time, the Finals were a tighter affair, as Los Angeles earned the title thanks to a 108-105 victory at home for Kareem’s sixth and final NBA title.

This watch has a gold face, with “World Champions / 87-88 / Back To Back” etched around a purple and gold Lakers logo. The back of the watch is etched with “Base Metal Bezel” and “Stainless Steel Back". The band is constructed of brown leather that shows healthy evidence of use to both the band and the fastener. The watch face is numberless, with thin gold and black hands. This watch does not currently run but appears to be in working condition. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
