No player in Los Angeles Dodgers’ history made more of an impact in one season than Kirk Gibson did in 1988. Joining the team that spring, Gibson instantly took command of the club, leading by example when he hit .290 with 25 homers to go with 31 stolen bases. He single-handedly inspired the Dodgers, turning a mediocre team into a pennant winner. His one and only plate appearance in the World Series resulted in the famous game winning home run.

Gibson’s unbelievable 1988 season earned him the NL’s MVP Award. This 1988 Louisville Slugger S216 model bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack that has been stabilized with small finishing nails. The handle has a heavy coat of pine tar and Gibson’s number “23” is hand written on the knob. The Dodgers star has signed the bats barrel in blue marker and added “1988 NL MVP 88 Game Used.” This bat comes with LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15738) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect a GU 9 and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature.
