Mike Schmidt, the greatest hitter in Philadelphia Phillies history, wore this pinstriped home jersey during the 1988 season. His penultimate season, Schmidt spent all 18 of them with the Phillies. Schmidt won three National League MVP Awards, 10 Gold Gloves, and made 12 All-Star teams during his time in the Majors. He finished his career with 548 home runs and a spot in Cooperstown.

During the 1988 season, when Schmidt wore this jersey, his performance dipped below his excellent standards. Finishing with only 12 home runs and 61 RBI in only 108 games, Schmidt began to show his advanced age after an All-Star season the year before. This anomalous season did nothing to tarnish Schmidt’s legacy, as he is still one of the most beloved Phillies thanks to his MVP performance in the 1980 World Series.

This white home jersey features maroon pinstripes and a thick maroon band down the sleeves and sides of the jersey. The Phillies trademark “P” logo is positioned on the left breast, sewn on in maroon tackle twill. Schmidt’s number “20” is sewn on the right breast and on the back of the jersey in maroon tackle twill. “SCHMIDT” is sewn across the back shoulders in maroon tackle twill over a white nameplate. A circular 3 ½ inch diameter Phillies patch is sewn on the left sleeve, with a maroon Rawlings wordmark sewn on the right sleeve. A Rawlings size 46 tag is sewn on the back inside of the collar with “SCHMIDT” and “SET 1 1988” flags attached.

Schmidt signed the left chest area directly below the “P” in black fiber-tip marker. This item is accompanied by a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for game use and a JSA LOA (Y69753) for the signature.
