Offered is a 1988 Paul "Bear" Bryant FWAA Coach of the Year award presented to University of Notre Dame head football coach Lou Holtz. The 5 7 1/4-inch etched glass award is mounted on a 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch brown wood base. The award features an etched profile of the legendary Alabama head football coach at the top center. Below the "Bear" image is engraved the legend "The Paul "Bear" Bryant FWAA Coach of the Year Award Banquet December 14, 1988 Lou Holtz University of Notre Dame", with the logo of the American Heart Association Houston Division engraved below. The Irish, coached by Holtz, ended the 1988 season with 12 wins and no losses, winning the national championship. After receiving this award, Holtz and the Irish sealed the deal on January 2, 1989 with a 34-21 win over #3 West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
