Second baseman Willie Randolph played 18 seasons, mostly for the Bronx Bombers. He appeared in seven All Star games, before turning to managing the NY Mets. This jersey is from Randolph’s final season with the Yankees.
Randolph boldly signed his name in blue Sharpie on the left front, just below the tackle twill “York” on the button-down jersey.
The front of this tapered Wilson gray, size 40 jersey has white-trimmed blue tackle-twill lettering “New York” stitched across the chest. On the center reverse, “30” is stitched in tackle-twill blue. Sleeves are trimmed in white and blue piping.
A gray tag embroidered with dark blue “Randolph 88 1” is stitched to the inside rear-center collar. The Wilson woven tag at the left hip is white with both red and black lettering (“Tailored Exclusively for Prestige Teams by Wilson” + washing instructions. A “Made in USA and ‘40’” tag is sewn to the Wilson tag, atop a tag with “tapered” stitched in it.
Evidence of game use can be found with slight sweat stains on the collar. The fourth of seven buttons is broken but attached. Signature is authenticated by PSA/DNA and an LOA from game-worn jersey expert, Dave Miedema also accompanies this item.
