Presented here is a game used Pittsburgh Pirates uniform set worn by former MLB skipper Jim Leyland. The Pirates were the first team Leyland managed, with the former minor league player taking the helm prior to the 1986 season. Leyland won three division titles with the Pirates before leaving to manage the Florida Marlins in 1997. Leyland, a three-time Manager of the Year, won his only World Series title in ’97 with the Fish. Leyland retired after the 2013 season and eight years as the Detroit Tigers skipper.

     The jersey offered here is a white, pullover Pirates jersey from the 1989 season. The Buccos finished the season 74-88, doomed by a lack of power from the offense and a shaky bullpen. “PIRATES” is sewn across the chest of this jersey in black and yellow tackle twill. Leyland’s number “10” is sewn on the chest and back in black and tallow tackle twill. “LEYLAND” is sewn across the back shoulders in black and yellow tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. A Pirates logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve and a white Rawlings logo is sewn on the right. A black and yellow band rings the sleeve and collar openings. A Rawlings size “40” tag is sewn on the inside of the front left tail. Leyland signed the “1” digit on the back in silver marker, adding the inscription “Game Used” on the “0”.      Also included is a pair of size “34” AIS pants worn by Leyland. These white pants have a black and yellow stripe running down the leg and a size “34” AIS tag with an attached “29” flag sewn on the back of the waistband. An AIS logo is sewn above the back left pocket. “LEYLAND” was written in black marker on the waistband, while “HARRIS” was previously written but crossed out. Leyland signed the upper left thigh in blue marker. This item comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature (C03596).

     Finally, a Pirates cap from the 1992-94 era is included. This black cap has a yellow Pirates “P” embroidered on the front. “10” is written in black marker on the underside of the brim of this size 73/8 hat. Leyland signed the top of the brim in silver marker, adding the inscription “Game Used”. This item comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C03595) for the signature.
