San Francisco Giants centerfielder Brett Butler wore this white button-down Giants home jersey during the infamous “Battle of the Bay” 1989 World Series against the Oakland Athletics. Butler, a .283 hitter in the 1989 regular season, hit .286 with two steals, a double, and an RBI in the Fall Classic. The first two games of the four-game Fall Classic were played in Oakland, while Games 3 and 4 were played across the Bay in Candlestick Park. This offered Giants home jersey has “GIANTS” sewn across the chest in black and orange tackle twill. “BUTLER” is sewn across the back shoulders in black and orange tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. Butler’s number “2” is sewn on the back of the jersey in black and orange tackle twill. A black memorial armband for Bart Giamatti is sewn on the left sleeve and a 1989 World Series patch is sewn on the right. A Rawlings size “42” tag with an attached “Set 1 1989” flag is sewn on the inside front tail. Also sewn in this location are “T” and “2” tags. This jersey shows moderate wear, and according to game used jersey expert Dave Miedema the amount of wear on the jersey “indicates regular season [and] NLCS use”. This jersey comes with a LOA from Dave Miedema.
