Hall of Fame shortstop Cal Ripken, Jr. wore this Baltimore Orioles road gray uniform – jersey and shorts, during the 1989 season. Ripken, in his ninth MLB season, hit 21 homers with 93 RBI as he led the Orioles to an 87-75 record and a second-place finish in the AL East. Ripken made the seventh of his 19 career All-Star Games in 1989. This uniform set comes directly from Ripken’s personal collection.

The Rawlings size 46 button-down jersey has “Orioles” and a paraph sewn on across the chest in black and orange tackle twill, with Ripken’s number sewn on below in the same black and orange tackle twill material. The sleeves are capped with black/orange/black piping stripes and the “Rawlings” wordmark embroidered in black on the right sleeve. The back has “C. RIPKEN” sewn on in black and orange tackle twill on a matching gray nameplate, with the number “8” sewn on below in black and orange tackle twill. The inside front left tail has the Rawlings size 46 tag, with a gray patch to its right that has “1 89” embroidered, indicating the set and year of this jersey.

Also included in this lot are the matching road gray game pants worn by Ripken. These pants were also made by Rawlings and have vertical black/orange/black piping stripes down each side. The inside waistband has a Rawlings size 36 tag, with a white team tag that reads “36 29 41 89” embroidered in black. Both the jersey and pants display light game use and come directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this uniform (jersey and pants).
