Dick “Ducky” Schofield was a key member of the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates World Series team, replacing the injured National League MVP Dick Groat in the second half of the season as an everyday player. Ducky hit .403 in this new capacity as a starter, helping the Pirates clinch the NL Pennant and later the World Series.
Schofield spent time with numerous other teams in his career, including the 1968 Cardinals, the San Francisco Giants, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 1989, Schofield wore this Dodgers home jersey during an Old Timers Game. This Rawlings jersey features “Dodgers” sewn across the front in blue tackle twill. Schofield’s number “2” is sewn on the front in red tackle twill and on the back in blue-on-white tackle twill. “SCHOFIELD” is sewn across the back shoulders in blue-on-white tackle twill. Also included in this lot are Schofield’s pants and blue stirrups from the ‘89 Old Timers Game. These items come with a Schofield LOA.
