Drafted first overall in the 1987 MLB June Amateur Draft, Ken Griffey, Jr’s rookie season in 1989 was one of the most anticipated events in Seattle sporting history. While “Junior” didn’t make his Major League debut in front of the Seattle fans, he did make his debut during the April 3rd, 1989 game in Oakland against the Athletics. Griffey’s lone hit was a double off of Dave Stewart in his first career at-bat and would later score in the top of the 6th inning after drawing a walk. Presented here is a “FIELD LEVEL” ticket stub from the April 3, 1989 game between the A’s and Mariners at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. This ticket has a yellow strip across the center outlined in dark green with “OAKLAND ATHLETICS OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM NO REFUNDS * READ CONDITIONS REVERSE SIDE * RAIN CHECK” printed in dark green. “MON APR 03 OPENING NIGHT SEATTLE” are printed in black on the white background above the yellow strip. This ticket displays edge and corner wear and is in fair condition. This comes encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (44000447), who have graded this stub a FR 1.5.
