Today Nike Air Jordan’s are almost synonymous with basketball, and over the years many versions and models of Michael Jordan’s signature footwear have been produced by the sneaker manufacturer. The more well-known and certainly most iconic version was the Air Jordan 4, introduced in 1989 and made famous by Spike Lee’s character Mookie in the blockbuster film, “Do The Right Thing.” Yet however influential Spike Lee’s Air Jordan 4’s were on the big screen, none are as sought after as a pair worn during the 1989 season by their namesake, Michael Jordan. During that 1989-90 NBA season, Jordan led the league in scoring for the fourth consecutive time, pouring in 33.6 points per contest under first-year head coach Phil Jackson. He also paced the NBA in steals, with 2.8 per game, and added 6.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game as the do-it-all leader of the Eastern Conference Finals Champs. Mike’s 1989-90 Nike Air Jordan 4’s show heavy game use. The soles and leather side panels exhibit game scuffing, exactly how a game used sneaker from this time period should appear. In addition to the game use, the heals and back portion of each sole shows cracking. The tongues each have the famous “Jumpman” logo icon and the size 13 labels are found inside each sneaker. Capping off this iconic pair of Jordan gamers is the presence of the NBA legend’s signature on each toe in bold black marker. A tremendous piece of pro basketball history from one of the game’s greatest. These sneakers come with a LOA from MEARS (316162) for the game use and individual LOAs from PSA/DNA (AD02511 & AD02512) for the signatures.
