Baseball legend Yogi Berra wore this Houston Astros road jersey as a coach in 1989, his final MLB season in uniform. Berra served as the bench coach under skipper Art Howe, helping to steer the Astros to a successful 86-win season. Berra’s mentees on the Astros included the second-year catcher Craig Biggio and a future NL MVP in the slugging third baseman Ken Caminiti. This offered Astros road jersey is a cream-colored button-down with navy, red, orange, and yellow striping on each sleeve. “ASTROS” and a five-pointed star are sewn on the chest of this jersey in navy and white tackle twill. “BERRA” is sewn across the back shoulders in navy tackle twill over a matching cream nameplate. Berra’s number “8”, retired by the Yankees in 1972, is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy and white tackle twill. A navy stripe runs down each side of the jersey. A Rawlings size “44” tag and a “8 89 44 1” swatch are sewn on the front left tail. Berra has signed the back of this jersey in black marker. The jersey shows light wear consistent with use by a member of a baseball coaching staff. This jersey comes with a COA from Beckett Authentication Services (G38050) and a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
