In 1990, Randy Johnson threw his first career no-hitter and the first no-hitter in the history of the Seattle Mariners franchise. A 2-0 win against the Detroit Tigers, Johnson’s no-hitter is notable due to the high amount of batters who reached first base due to walks. Johnson’s six walks and eight strikeouts in this game are indicative of his career as a whole: dominant, intimidating, and just a little on the wild side. There are two items in this lot. The first, a tan Mizuno catcher’s glove that was used by Scott Bradley to catch Johnson’s no hitter. Bradley, the brother of former United States Mens’ National Soccer Team coach Bob Bradley, signed the glove in black marker and added the inscription “Glove used to catch Randy Johnson No hitter!” “Scott Bradley” is embroidered in blue near the pinky finger slot of the glove. This glove shows good game use. The second item is an Official American League Bobby Brown baseball signed by both Johnson and Bradley. This ball was used during Johnson’s no-hitter on June 2nd, 1990. Johnson signed the sweet spot of the ball, with Bradley’s signature appearing in the panel above it. “June 2, 1990/Randy Johnson/No-Hitter” is inscribed in blue marker beneath Johnson’s signature. Both Bradley and Johnson signed the ball in blue pen. The ball exhibits good evidence of game use and the glove and ball come with separate Letters of Authentication from Scott Bradley himself.
