Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana wore this gold San Francisco 49ers helmet during the 1990’s. 1990 was Montana’s last full season with the Niners, as an elbow injury suffered in 1991 limited him to one half of game action in 1991 and 1992 combined. In 1990, Montana led the 49ers to a 14-2 record and a spot in the NFC Championship Game. Arguably the best game of Montana’s career took place in the 49ers Week 5 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. The Notre Dame product threw for 476 yards and six touchdowns, including five to his fellow Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, as the 49ers beat the Falcons 45-35 on the road. Montana finished the season with a career-best 3,944 yards as well as 26 passing touchdowns. The New Eagle, Pennsylvania native retired after the 1994 season, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

This gold helmet was manufactured by Riddell and features the 49ers’ interlocking “SF” logo sticker affixed to each side of the helmet. The shell is bisected by a white stripe bordered on each side with red stripes and the “Riddell” sticker is on a white leather pad for the face mask anchors. The face mask is gray and the interior padding is still intact. The back of the helmet has “RIDDELL” on the base and an NFL logo sticker affixed to the left of the stripes, along with the WARNING sticker. This helmet displays moderate game use and Montana has signed his name in black marker on the left side between the stripes an the “SF” logo. This helmet comes with a LOA from TD7 Sports, who attest in their LOA that this helmet “came directly from 49ers equipment staff". Additionally, there is a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A25595) for the signature.
