Just when Bo Jackson was beginning to look like the greatest 2-sport athlete of all-time, a seemingly routine tackle ended it all. Hampered by constant hip pain, Jackson’s baseball and football career suffered, with him finally undergoing hip replacement surgery in 1992. Bo returned for two final baseball seasons, characteristically hitting an emotional home run in his first game back with the White Sox. Despite his valiant attempts to recapture the unparalleled skills he possessed before his injury, Bo reluctantly called it a career when the MLB players went out on strike in 1994. This bat was used by Jackson during the 1991-1993 seasons when he was with the White Sox both before and after his hip replacement surgery. The Louisville Slugger O64 model bat shows outstanding use with a crack in the back handle. Numerous ball marks with stitch impressions are visible on all sides of the barrel along with blue ink transfers and cleat imprints. The impression of a weighted batting donut is present, and a moderate coat of pine tar still clings to the handle. Jackson’s number “8” is written on the knob in silver and the 2-sport superstar has signed the barrel in silver marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B17698) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5 and a LOA from JSA for the signature.
