Doc Gooden solidified his place in New York Mets history after helping the franchise win its second and most recent World Series title in 1986. Gooden, the 1984 National League Rookie of the Year and 1985 NL Cy Young Award winner, finished his career with a 194-112 record and 3.51 ERA. This white, button-down game used New York Mets jersey, consistent with what the team wore in 1992-93, features the right-hander’s signature in blue ink on the front of the jersey with the inscription “Game Used” accompanying it. “Mets” appears across the chest of the jersey with “GOODEN” across the back and his number “16” on both sides in blue-and-orange on white tackle twill. The front tail of the jersey features a “Russell Athletic Authentic Diamond Collection” patch with size “48” and an affixed tag that reads “2” Extra Length,” indicating a size modification to the jersey. The jersey features a stitched Mets logo patch on the left sleeve and stitched Russell logo on the right sleeve. Gooden’s signature comes with PSA/DNA certification number Q59839. The jersey exhibits evidence of light game use and appears to be all original. The jersey comes with an LOA from Dave Miedema, noted sports jersey expert.
