Before he was “Mr. November”, Derek Jeter was a wiry shortstop from Kalamazoo, Michigan, selected with the sixth overall pick of the 1992 MLB June Amateur Draft. Jeter was the first high school player selected in the 1992 Draft, and he joined the Rookie ball Gulf Coast League Yankees shortly after coming to terms with the Yanks. It took the future Hall of Famer some time to get his feet under him in professional ball, hitting .202 with three homers and 25 RBI in 47 games as an 18-year old. Jeter started hitting almost immediately after his freshman season in pro ball, rising to the number four spot on Baseball America’s pre-1995 prospect rankings. Over Jeter’s 20-season career in the Majors, the lifelong Yankee would win five World Series titles, collect 3,465 hits, and make 14 All-Star teams.

This navy cap has the Yankees iconic interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the front in white. A MLB logo patch is sewn on the back of this cap. “Jeter” is written on the underside of the brim. Jeter has signed the brim of the cap in silver marker, inscribing “1992” below his signature. This cap shows moderate wear and comes with a LOA from JT Sports and a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema, who states that this is “potentially [Jeter’s] first ever pro cap.” A LOA from JSA (Z817884) covers Jeter’s signature.
