Goose Gossage was a Hall of Fame pitcher best known for his work as New York Yankees closer in the late 1970s. He ended his career on the West coast pitching for the A’s and the Seattle Mariners. This gray button-down road jersey is from his first of two seasons in Oakland. It features the city name “Oakland” scripted across the chest with full seraph, and his number “54” below on the left side. The lower front tail has the “Russell Athletic 50” manufacturer’s size tag with attached fabric flag tag. The reverse has his name “GOSSAGE” on a gray nameplate with his number “54” below. His name is in green while the number is in gold on green tackle twill. Each shoulder is adorned with a patch, the left having the vintage Elephant A’s patch while the right has the Oakland A’s 25th Anniversary patch. Light game use is evident.
