Nearly a quarter-century has passed since Joe Carter followed in Bill Mazeroski's footsteps with the 2nd championship-clinching walk off homer in baseball history. The Phillies pitcher was none other than Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams, and Carter later remembered the at-bat this way: "He jerked a fastball down and in—more like a cut fastball—and because I was thinking breaking ball, I kind of stayed back on the ball. Normally, if I'm looking fastball, I'd either swing and miss at that ball and nine times out of 10 times I hook it into the third-base dugout and scatter my teammates. But in that particular moment, because I was looking breaking ball, I kept my head down, and when I made contact...I never saw the ball. All I saw was the bank of lights. I knew I hit it good, but I didn't know if I hit it high enough to get over the fence." Carter sure did...and thus the Blue Jays became the only world champions based outside U.S. soil. A Toronto scout named Gomez received this 14K-gold, size 12-1/2 ring, crafted by Tiffany & Co. with 60 points' worth of diamonds plus intricately detailed logos for the Jays, the AL and the WS. Near Mint condition. A 1994 purchase LOA accompanies, as does the original Tiffany ring box and outer presentation box.
