The Hall of Fame centerfielder Ken Griffey Jr. wore this gray Seattle Mariners road uniform (jersey and pants) during the 1993 MLB season. Griffey, in his age-23 season, raised his career-high home run total from 27 to 45 in 1993, adding 109 RBI, a .309 batting average, and an American League-best 359 total bases to his exceptional campaign. Griffey was named to the American League All-Star team for the fourth straight season and was awarded both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger at the end of the season.
The jersey in this lot is a gray, button-down Mariners road jersey with “SEATTLE” sewn across the chest in navy, teal, and white tackle twill. “GRIFFEY” is sewn across the back shoulders in navy and teal tackle twill over a matching gray nameplate. “The Kid’s” number “24” is sewn on the back in navy and teal tackle twill. A circular Mariners logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve while a Russell Athletic logo is sewn on the right sleeve. Russell size “46” and “1993” tags are sewn on the front left tail. The pants in this lot are gray, with a Russell size “34” tag and a “24-34/36-34-93” swatch sewn on the back inside waistband. Griffey has signed the outside waistband of these pants in blue marker. The pants come with a LOA from JSA (Z59957) while the jersey and pants come with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
