New York Yankees legend and future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera wore this navy Yankees ballcap circa 1994-96. Rivera made his Major League debut in 1995, going 5-3 in 19 appearances, including the only 10 starts of his career. Rivera switched to relief pitching full-time in 1996, compiling an 8-3 record with five saves and a 2.09 ERA. The Yankees won the World Series in 1996, with Rivera allowing only one run in eight playoff appearances. Rivera pitched for the Yankees until 2013, finishing his career with more saves (652) and games finished (952) than any other player in baseball history.
This navy cap has the Yankees interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the front in white. A MLB logo patch is sewn on the back of the cap. An Authentic Diamond Collection and a New Era tag are sewn in the sweatband, which also houses a size 7 3/8 flag. “Dios te Bendiga”, which translates to “God Bless You”, is written on the inside of the cap, and Rivera’s number “42” is written on the underside of the brim. Rivera has signed the underside of the cap in black marker. This cap comes with a LOA from JT Sports and a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema. Please note that JT Sports dates the cap to 1994-96 while Miedema dates the use of the cap to 1995-96. Additionally, a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (D43913) covers Rivera’s signature.
