Ted Williams was the last player to hit at least .400 in a season when his .406 in 1941 still serves as a bench mark for today. While Michael Jordan never played an official game, let alone a full season, in the Majors, he can at least say he has a .400 average in Major League stadiums. Jordan, during his NBA hiatus from the Chicago Bulls, suited up for the Chicago White Sox in what was once an annual exhibition game between the White Sox and Chicago Cubs. Jordan appeared in the April 7th, 1994 game at Wrigley Field and got two hits in his final two at-bats – an infield single to third and an RBI double in what would end up a 4-4 tie in 10 innings. From there, Jordan joined the AA Birmingham Barons, where he would complete one season in the minors.
Offered here is an official Chicago Cubs scorecard from 1994 with the two printed available players for the April 7th, 1994 exhibition game between the two Chicago teams. The inside has a lineup section with “WHITE SOX” listed on the top left and the roster, which is listed in columns based on jersey number order. “CUBS” is directly below the blank lineup lines of the White Sox and the Cubs roster in jersey number is below the blank lineup lines. Jordan is listed in the fourth column of the “White Sox” roster sandwiched in between “44 Dan Pasqua, IF-OF” and “45 Jason Bere, P”. The lineup cards have not been filled out. A great memento from Michael Jordan’s only appearance in a Major League stadium.
