Brazilian striker Romario de Souza Faria was presented with the 1994 FIFA World Cup winners award after leading the Brazilian National Soccer Team to their fourth World Cup title. Romario, then playing for Spanish titans FC Barcelona, was named the Golden Ball winner after scoring five goals in Brazil’s successful run to the FIFA World Cup Trophy. Romario scored the opening goal in Brazil’s 3-2 win over the Netherlands in the quarterfinals and accounted for the only goal in Brazil’s 1-0 victory over Sweden in the tournament semifinals. Brazil won the final match of the tournament in penalties against Italy, with Romario netting Brazil’s first successful conversion after Marcio Santos’ miss to start the shootout. Romario played in the 1990 FIFA World Cup as well for Brazil and retired with 70 caps and 55 goals for the national team.

This offered award is a brown plaque, with a large, raised Brazilian Football Confederation logo applied to the upper portion of the plaque. A gold plaque affixed to the wood is etched with “Confederecao Brasileira de Futebol ao Atleta / Romario de Souza Faria / O reconhecimento pela conquista da Copa do Mundo de 1994”, “9 de Dezembro de 1994”, and “Ricardo Teixeira Presidente”. The plaque comes in the original blue presentation box and is accompanied by a LOA from Alexandre Silva da Silveira, an official with the CBF.
