Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. made history on September 6, 1995 against the California Angels when he appeared in his 2,131st consecutive game and surpassed what many believe was the unbreakable record previously set by Lou Gehrig. For his achievement, Ripken was presented with this wood plaque that measures 15 x 11 inches. There is a black plate on the right with gold writing that reads “2131 CAL RIPKEN JR BALTIMORE ORIOLES SEPTEMBER 6, 1995 ~ CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FABULOUS HISTORY MAKING EVENT”. To the left of the plate is a raised laurel leaves in gold and a 3-D gold-colored baseball player in a right-handed batting stance. The award is in good overall condition with some minor scratches. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
