One of the most dominant college football teams of all-time, the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers led by legendary coach Tom Osborne, managed to outscore opponents by an average score of 53-14. This 10K gold, size 10.5, 37-gram ring was created by the Josten’s company for running back Lawrence Phillips. He averaged 7.4 yards-per-carry for the Cornhuskers during the 1995 season including a 206-yard, four touchdown performance, during the second game of the season against Michigan State. He also had a 165-yard, two-touchdown game, against No. 2 ranked Florida in Nebraska’s 62-24 Fiesta Bowl victory for the national championship. This elevated his status in the NFL draft with the St. Louis Rams choosing him with the sixth overall pick in the 1996 draft.
“National Champions Back to Back” is in raised relief around the ring’s perimeter circling two large football-shaped diamonds over a red gem stone bed containing 16 more diamonds on the ring’s face. “PHILLIPS” name and his “I RB” position is on the right shank above the team’s “N Huskers” logo with “1994-1995” and the team’s “25-0” record over its two-championship seasons. The “NEBRASKA 62 FLORIDA 24” Fiesta Bowl score is at the top of the left shanks over the scores of all of the Cornhuskers 12 wins during the season. Jostens “©” symbol and “10 K” are engraved on the interior band. This piece of personal hardware comes with a notarized letter of authenticity signed by Lawrence Phillips.
