Presented here is a pair of game issued Air Jordan XII sneakers worn and signed by Hall of Famer Michael Jordan during the 1996-97 season. Jordan was typically excellent in 1996-97, leading Chicago to a historic 69-13 regular season record and a six-game demolition of the Utah Jazz in the NBA Finals to win his fifth NBA title. Jordan claimed the NBA scoring title in 1996-97 as well, averaging 29.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game under head coach Phil Jackson. Jordan started all 82 games for Chicago, exhibiting tremendous durability while playing 37.9 minutes per game at the age of 33. Jordan retired after spending the 2002-03 season with the Washington Wizards before his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

These sneakers feature a red and white colorway with red leather on the instep and outstep that contains “JUMPMAN” imprinted on a plastic tab on the outstep of each sneaker. Four metal “JUMPMAN” toggles are attached to the upper of each sneaker. “TWO 3” is labeled in black, running vertically down the white tongue in black embroidery. The number “23” appears on the back heel of each sneaker in white. A heel tag featuring the “JUMPMAN” logo in red on a white background appears on the back heel that also contains “JORDAN QUALITY INSPIRED BY THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER” runs the length of the heel tag. Jordan signed the red leather outstep of each sneaker with a black marker. The signatures are bold, and the sneakers do not display any game use. The game issued Nike Air Jordan XII sneakers signed by Jordan LOA’s from JSA (X99409-Right Sneaker, X99408, Left Sneaker) and an LOA from MEARS (318034) for the game use.
