Baltimore Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr. wore this black Orioles cap during Game 5 of the 1996 American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Ripken and the O’s put forward a valiant effort against the eventual World Series champions, but fell 6-4 in Game 5 to end their playoff run. Ripken finished the playoffs with a .342 batting average in nine Division and League Championship Series games. The all-time leader in consecutive games played was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

This offered cap is black, with an Orioles logo sewn on the cap’s front. Handwritten in black marker on the underside of the brim is “96 ALCS vs Yankees Last Game.” Tags sewn on the sweatband include a Diamond Collection tag, a New Era tag, and a size 7 3/8 tag. The cap shows good signs of game use. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal accompanying this game used hat.
