Hall of Fame shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. started to break this Rawlings Pro 6-HF model fielder’s glove for shortstop during the 1996 MLB season. Ripken, in the season after he broke Lou Gehrig’s consecutive games streak, put up a solid Triple Crown slash line of .278/26/102 as the Orioles made a surprising appearance in the American League Championship Series. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr and displays light game use. This glove was made of Rawlings top grade “Heart of the Hide” tanned steer hide bound with tanned rawhide laces and nylon stitching. There is a single post double T-bar web and a closed “Fastback” with finger “Holdster” and adjustable wrist strap. There is slight wear in the pocket, face and throughout the body of this glove. “Cal Ripken Jr.” is embroidered on the back of the thumb in black. Ripken has noted on the clear bag “1996 Started to Break in Shortstop Glove Pro 6 HF”. This glove comes with a signed LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr., plus a LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00716) for the use.
