Former Major League manager Jim Leyland won 1,769 games in 22 seasons as manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers. Leyland spent his first 11 of those seasons in Pittsburgh, where he was Manager of the Year in 1990 and 1992, leading the Pirates to three consecutive National League East titles. Leyland also was Manager of the Year for the Detroit Tigers in 2006.

     Leyland spent his last season in Pittsburgh during the 1996 season and wore this uniform set (jersey and pants) during that season. The white button-down jersey was manufactured by Rawlings and is a size 42. “PIRATES” and Leyland’s number “10” have been sewn on in black and yellow tackle twill on the front. The Rawlings tag and the “SET 1 1996” and “42” flags are sewn on the inside front left tail. The back of the jersey has “LEYLAND” sewn on in black and yellow tackle twill on a matching white nameplate, while Leyland’s number “10” is sewn on in black and yellow tackle twill below. The sleeve ends have a ribbed material with a black/yellow/black striping pattern. The jersey displays moderate use and Leyland signed his name vertically on the “1” on the back of the jersey in silver marker and inscribed “Game Used 1996” vertically on the left portion of the “0”.

     The matching pants were also manufactured by Rawlings and were worn by Leyland during the 1996 season. The white pants have a black/yellow/black striping pattern down each side of the outer let and the team strip tag is sewn on the inner back waist lining that reads “LEYLAND 10 96 33 25”. The pants also display moderate use and Leyland signed his name in blue marker on the upper left thigh and inscribed “Game Used 1996”. This jersey and pants comes with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema and a COAs from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for Leyland’s signature on the jersey (B53111) and the pants (B74752).
