Noted baseball historian Bill James has called Darrell Evans "the most underrated player in baseball history, absolutely number one on the list.” After all, Evans belted 414 career HRs; was the first player to have a 40-HR season in both leagues; won the A.L. home run crown in 1985, remains the oldest A.L. player ever to win a HR crown (40 round-trippers at 38 years old) and is one of only two players (along with Reggie Jackson) to hit 100 home runs for 3 different teams. He is certainly among the best major-leaguers to ever slip through the cracks of Cooperstown consideration. In 1996, Evans served as the Yankees hitting coordinator when, after a 15-year World Series drought, the Bronx Bombers returned to the Fall Classic and began the team’s modern dynasty.

Offered is Evans' '96 Yankees ring—a Balfour 10K-gold, size 10 example featuring a bevy of authentic diamonds. "EVANS" appears above the Commissioner's Trophy on one shank, while the Yankee logo and Yankee Stadium facade occupy the other shank. NM condition. Accompanied by Evans' photocopied 12/21/97 LOA, as well as the deluxe wooden presentation box (3-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 2"), which is engraved on the lid, "NEW YORK YANKEES / 1996 WORLD CHAMPIONS."
