Wayne Gretzky shattered the NHL record books during his 22-year career with the Oilers, Kings, Blues and Rangers. Leading the dynastic Edmonton teams of the 1980’s to four Stanley Cups in five years, Gretzky led the NHL eight-straight years (1979-80 – 1986-87) in points (and 10 out of 12 seasons), 13-straight years in assists, and re-wrote the record books for most offensive categories. He won the Hart Trophy nine times for MVP, the Ross Trophy 10 times for most points, and the Conn Smythe Trophy twice as playoff MVP. It is unlikely his feats will ever be approached, let alone duplicated.
Gretzky used this Easton “Gretzky” model stick during the December 4th, 1996 game when he was a member of the New York Rangers. Gretzky set up the only Rangers’ goal against their division rival Philadelphia Flyers as the teams skated to a 1-1 tie. This stick displays moderate game use and has black overlapping tape on the wood base. On the butt-end is a “Jack the Gripper” grip and “GRETZKY” is stamped on the blade insert, along with powder residue on the blade tape – all characteristics of a Gretzky gamer. The Great One has signed his name in black marker silver part towards the bottom before the wood blade attachment. The signature has some marks but is still clearly visible. This stick comes with a LOA from The MeiGray Group (MGA005475) for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for his signature.
