The 1997-98 season saw the sixth and final NBA Championship of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, with Jordan leading the league in scoring and being named NBA season MVP and NBA finals MVP. It was a great run which saw the Bulls win six titles in eight seasons, only losing out the two years Jordan was “retired”. This 1997-98 season saw the Bulls sweep through the New Jersey Nets in first round of the playoffs. This particular jersey was worn by Jordan during the only game played in New Jersey, a 116-101 victory which Jordan scored 38 points on an insane 16-22 shooting from the floor. The team name “BULLS” and Jordan’s number “23” are sewn onto the front of this red mesh road jersey, with his name "JORDAN" and number "23"on the reverse, all in black-on-white tackle twill. This jersey shows light-to-moderate wear, and has the NBA Authentics, “Team Nike Sports 50” manufacturers size tag with “Length + 4” flag tag are adhered to the left front tail. This jersey comes with a Chicago Bulls LOA, signed by Jeff Schultz from their Community Relations Dept, but also comes with a detailed LOA from the original purchaser of this jersey indicating he obtained this jersey directly from Mr. Schultz. What is amazing is our consignor viewed every road Bulls game video plus high resolution digital images to determine this jersey was worn during the April 29, 1998 playoff game at New Jersey. Since Jordan wore only one jersey for each road trip that year, this “one game” trip only included one jersey. This conclusion was made by determining via the available video evidence the subtle differences created in each jersey including exact location of letters, numbers, and NBA logo. With the ability now to see almost every angle and side of each jersey worn during a game, photo matching is paramount when dealing with highly desired game worn items from the greatest players in sports.
