During the 1997-1998 season, Paul O’Neill led by example as the veteran right fielder hit .324 with 21 home runs and then the next year his .317 helped the Yankees win a record 114 games as they cruised to a World Championship. Dating to those two career seasons, O’Neill’s Louisville Slugger C243 model bat shows heavy use with a cracked handle. The barrel is covered with ball marks with stitch impressions and leather ball scuffs. There are many cleat imprints, bat rack paint streaks and abrasions from contact with other equipment. The knob and handle have a crisscross pattern of adhesive tape to enhance the grip and a moderate coat of pine tar applied. The Yankees star has signed the barrel in strong black marker, completing this well-used gamer. This bat derives from the personal collection of former Major Leaguer Willie Randolph and a signed LOA will accompany this bat. There is also a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18210) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5, plus a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A25418) for the signature.
