Presented is Nick Anderson’s 1997-98 Fans’ Favorite Crystal Award presented by the Orlando Sentinel and Gooding’s. The award is clear crystal engraved with the legend “1997-98 Fans’ Favorite Award Presented to Nick Anderson by The Orlando Sentinel & Gooding’s” with a logo of a basketball and a net. The main section of the award is a 1 x 9 x 14-inch diamond-shaped crystal set atop a ¾ x 3 x 9-inches crystal base.  Anderson left the University of Illinois after his junior year and entered the NBA draft in 1989, where he was selected with the 11th pick of the first round by the Orlando Magic. As the Magic were an expansion team that season, Anderson was the first draft pick in the franchise's history. Like most expansion franchises, the Magic were a young team and Anderson was one of its few bright spots. In his first few seasons, Anderson was the Magic's top scoring option, and led the team in points per game during the 1991–92 season. In the 1997-1998 NBA season, Anderson averaged 15.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, and the Magic finished fifth in the Atlantic Division with a record of 41–41, missing the playoffs for the first time since the 1992–93 season.
