Tony Gwynn accumulated 3141 career hits, collecting his milestone 3000th hit on August 6, 1999. However, on his way to 3000 hits, Gwynn used a single bat for each hit up to that milestone, signing and inscribing each one with the career hit number.
This 32.875 inch, 30.1 ounce Louisville Slugger B267 model bat is un-cracked and exhibits evidence of excellent use. Ball marks and stitch impressions are visible on the barrel. The lower handle and a light wood color compared to the black barrel and there is a light coating of pine tar on the mid handle, both applied to enhance his grip. The length and weight (33-30-1/2) and model number (B267) are written on the knob in black marker, with his number “19” and career hit number (2903) also on the knob and top of the barrel. On the sweet spot is a bold “Tony Gwynn” signature with “#2903” written in silver marker below the barrel label. This game used and signed bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B11904) authenticating this bat’s use during the 1997-98 labeling period and a COA from Alicia Gwynn, authenticating Tony’s signature on the bat.
