Legendary goaltender Patrick Roy wore this Colorado Avalanche jersey circa 1997-1999. Roy was at the top of his game during the late 1990’s, winning 31 games in 1997-98 and 32 in 1998-99. The Quebec native joined the Avalanche in December of 1995 from the Montreal Canadiens, heading stateside in exchange for Andrei Kovalenko, Jocelyn Thibault, and Martin Rucinsky. Roy led the Avalanche to the playoffs in each of his eight seasons with the team, capturing the 1996 Stanley Cup and the 2001 Stanley Cup for the third and fourth championships of his career. Roy retired after the 2002-03 season with 551 victories, a .910 save percentage, and a 2.54 goals against average. The three-time Vezina and Smythe Trophy winner was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006 and is widely regarded as the greatest goaltender in hockey history.

This road Avalanche jersey is burgundy, with blue on the shoulder yoke and sleeves. Roy’s number “33” is sewn on the back and sleeves in white, blue, and silver tackle twill. A large Avs logo patch is sewn on the chest and Bigfoot logo patches are sewn on each sleeve. “ROY” is sewn across the back shoulders in white tackle twill over a matching burgundy nameplate. Black and white stripes accent the chest, back, sleeves, and collar. “STARTER” is sewn on the back tail in white lettering next to a NHL logo patch. A fight strap is sewn in the back inside tail. A “58G-11-23” tag and a Starter tag is sewn on the back inside collar. Roy has signed the second “3” on the back of this road jersey in black marker. The jersey shows light to moderate wear and comes with a LOA from MEARS for game use and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (D84647) for the signature.
