Cal Ripken Jr. wore this pair of black Nike cleats in the 1997 All-Star Game at Coors Field. This was Ripken’s 15th of 19 appearances in the Midsummer Classic. The 1983 World Series champion started at third base and finished the game 1-2, knocking a fifth inning single off Kevin Brown before leaving the exhibition for a pinch runner. The Hall of Famer enjoyed an excellent 1997 campaign, hitting 17 homers, with 84 RBI, 30 doubles, and a .270 batting average in his age-36 campaign. Ripken was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
These cleats are black, with white accents and orange Nike swooshes sewn on both sides of the shoes. “C.R.” flanked by two Nike swooshes is embroidered in orange on both heels. 1997 All-Star Game logos are applied to the top of each lace guard. Six metal cleats are present on both soles. Ripken has signed the outer heel of each shoe in vibrant silver marker. These come directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal accompanying the All-Star Game used cleats.
