Midway through the 1997 season, Cal Ripken, Jr. was batting just south of the .300 mark with 6 home runs when the fans voted him to the 15th of his 19 All-Star Game appearances. The Orioles star started the game in Cleveland and went 1-for-2 in the 3-1 AL win. Offered here is the American League practice jersey worn by Ripken during the 1997 All-Star festivities. This Majestic button-down jersey is red with “AMERICAN” sewn on across the front in white and navy tackle twill with the All-Star Game logo as part of the second “A”. There is navy piping that runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons and the Majestic tag is sewn on the front left tail with a size 48 flag attached. The back has “RIPKEN” and “8” sewn on in white and navy tackle twill with the left sleeve having the Orioles logo patch and the right sleeve having the “JACKIE ROBINSON 50 1947-1997” patch. This jersey displays light game use and comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal that will accompany this item.
