Although this bat was manufactured for Mark McGwire in 1990, the home run champ used this bat to hit his 341st career home run on May 5th, 1997. The 7th inning blast was hit off Bob Wickman of the Brewers and sailed over the left-centerfield wall for his 12 of the season. The Rawlings 256B model bat shows heavy use and is un-cracked. The barrel shows many ball marks with stitch impressions and bat rack paint streaks. There is some checking from repeated ball contact and a light coat of pine tar is found on the handle. McGwire’s number “25” has been hand written on the knob and he has signed the barrel in black marker. The bat originated from a Brewers Wives Auction. The bat comes with an LOA from MEARS (316019) for the game use and has been graded a perfect A10, plus a LOA from JSA (Z83925) for the signature.
