The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards debuted in 1988 and has grown in popularity ever since. With numerous celebrity guests and the network’s trademark green slime, the show has taken on a life of its own. In 1997, NBA superstar and now Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal was named “Favorite Male Athlete”. O’Neal was nominated with fellow greats and Hall of Famers Ken Griffey, Jr., Michael Jordan and Emmitt Smith. For winning this prestigious award, O’Neal was presented with this mini orange blimp that also doubles as a kaleidoscope. This award measures nine inches long and has “NICKELODEON” affixed on both sides in white with “10TH ANNUAL KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS FAVORITE MALE ATHLETE Shaquille O’Neal” printed on one side in white. This award displays some minor paint chipping, but is otherwise good condition and the kaleidoscope is in full working order. This award comes with a LOA from Mine O Mine, a company owned by Shaquille O’Neal, authenticating that this is the very award presented to him in 1997.
