Long before he was bestowed with Baseball’s highest honor, Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza received this handsome award from CNN/SI Total Sports, the Ted Williams Most Productive Player Award. With a base made of tiered marble, the solid award features 2 8” towers topped by a 1-inch thick glass square, engraved with the Ted Williams Museum Hitters Hall of Fame logo. Mounted just below this, between the towers, is another thick pane of glass that reads “Ted Williams Most Productive Player Award Mike Piazza National League 1997 CNN/SI Total Sports.” The towers seem to have come slightly unfastened and stand loose, but remain fastened to the marble base. As it was only awarded to one player in each league from 1997 through 2001, the award was only issued a total of 10 times, to just seven players. Certainly a rare and unique award presented to the 2016 Hall of Fame inductee.
