Hunter appeared in one game in 1997 after a mid-August callup from AA New Britain, making his debut as a pinch runner during a game against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards on August 22nd, 1997. Over the following 18 seasons, Hunter would develop into one of the American League’s best centerfielders, making five All-Star teams and winning nine Gold Glove awards for his spectacular defensive play. Hunter retired after the 2015 season with 353 homers, a .277 career average, and 2,452 hits.
