Alex Rodriguez was establishing himself as the next superstar in baseball in 1998 when he belted 42 home runs and had 142 RBI with a solid .310 average. This lot of four items, a jersey, a cap, cleats and a batting glove all date to his 1998 season. The first item is a home Seattle Mariners button-down Russell Athletic jersey. “MARINERS” is sewn on across the chest in navy, teal and silver tackle twill. Navy piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons. The Russell size 48 tag and “1998 tags are sewn on the bottom front left tail, along with “2” EXTRA BODY LEGNTH” and “1” Extra Sleeve Length” flags. The back has “RODRIGUEZ” sewn on in navy and teal tackle twill on a matching white nameplate and the number “3” sewn on in navy and teal tackle twill. A Mariner’s logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve the Russell Athletic logo is embroidered in navy on the left sleeve. Rodriguez has signed his name in black marker next to his number on the back and inscribed “1998 Game Used 40/40”. 

The next item is a New Era wool cap worn by ARod. This cap is two-toned with the crown colored navy and the brim silver. The Mariners’ logo is embroidered on the front and Rodriguez’s number “3” is handwritten in black marker on the green underside brim. That displays outstanding game use and Rodriguez has signed his name in blue marker on the top of the brim and inscribed “1998 Game Used”. The next item in this lot are a pair of game used Nike cleats. These cleats are all black with teal and white Nike swooshes. ARod’s “3” is embroidered in white on the tongue flaps on each cleat. The cleats have hard rubber spikes and display outstanding game use. Rodriguez has signed his name in black marker on the outsides of each shoe on the Nike swooshes. The last items in this lot is right hand Nike batting glove. The glove is white with teal-colored inner fingers. “NIKE” is printed on the wrist straps and “3” and the Nike Swoosh are the back of the hands in black on a white panel. Rodriguez has signed that panel in black marker along the Nike swoosh. The jersey and batting glove come with a LOA from 100% Authentic for the use and there are LOAs from Alex Rodriguez for the cap and the cleats.
