1998 saw the great home run chase between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa as they eventually caught and passed Roger Maris for the single-season home run record. 1998 also marked the season where Barry Bonds became the first player to reach the 400/400 Club - 400 home runs and 400 stolen bases - a club so exclusive that he'll most likely be the only member for a very long time.
For the eighth time in his illustrious career, Bonds earned a spot on the National League All-Star team. Bonds would finish his career with 14 All-Star selections and retired as the all-time leader in home runs with 762. Offered here is the 1998 National League All-Star batting practice jersey worn by Bonds at Denver’s Coors Field.
This jersey is green nylon, and features “NATIONAL” sewn across the chest in white, purple, and silver tackle twill. The second “a” is stylized as a purple, black, gray, and white mountain. Purple piping adorns the chest, as well as the collar and sleeve openings. A circular Giants logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve, while a ’98 ASG patch is sewn on the right. A Majestic tag with an attached size “44” flag is sewn on the front left tail, along with a 25 BARRY Bonds Authenticated patch. “BONDS” and “25” are sewn on the back of the jersey in white and purple tackle twill. Bonds has signed his name in black marker on the bottom of the “2” on the back. A great worn Barry Bonds jersey and this comes with a LOA from Barry Bonds.
