Davis was one of the super stars of the National League during the 1980's. As a Cincinnati Red he became the first player in history to collect both 30 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same season. Unfortunately an accumulation of injuries ended his career in 1994. After a year of recuperation Davis was healthy enough to re-join the Reds where he hit .287. He joined Baltimore the next year but was stricken with colon cancer. Remarkably, Davis battled back again and in 1998 had the best season of his career. His grit and determination in the face of adversity led to his fellow players to award him with this Comeback of the Year Award. This impressive award has a 9 1/4" tall 5-sided clear crystal emblazoned with the MLB Players Choice logo. The award is mounted on a marble base engraved with "ERIC DAVIS COMEBACK PLAYER AS CHOSEN BY HIS PEERS AMERICAN LEAGUE 1998".
